The Chester Project: A Grand Garden Transformation

At Foulkes Paving, we take immense pride in collaborating with our clients to create bespoke outdoor environments. This Chester garden project is a prime example of how we combine large-scale engineering with refined, high-end aesthetics.

This ambitious project was designed and built for a family at their "forever home." As the family often spend time in different countries due to work and school commitments, they required a high-specification UK base that offered both luxury and comfort.

The clients initially approached us with a concept from a local garden designer. Following a detailed consultation and site visit, our lead, Luke, worked closely with them to perfect the layout and material choices. The goal was to ensure the new landscape matched the sheer grandeur of this beautiful Cheshire property.

The Scale of the Build:

• Area: 1,000 square metres.
• Excavation: 200 tonnes of rubble removed.
• Construction: 300 tonnes of premium new materials installed.

Symmetry, sharp clean lines and the very best materials are the defining factors of this successful build. Every element was installed to the correct British Standards, providing the clients with vital peace of mind regarding the longevity of the work.

Premium Jura Beige Limestone

For the main patio, pathways and terrace, we selected London Stone’s pre-sealed Jura Beige limestone. By using varying sizes, we created multiple seating zones and distinct areas close to the home, perfect for outdoor socialising and relaxation.

Heritage Brickwork & Bespoke Edging

To ensure the new structures blended seamlessly with the original building, we rebuilt the terrace from scratch. We utilised reclaimed Ruabon red bricks and original decorative clay air bricks to maintain the property’s historic character.

We also installed approximately 500 linear metres of Corten steel edgings. These define the planting beds and pathways and will weather over time to a striking golden orange. This material was mirrored in the construction of a large, bespoke water feature, providing a sense of consistency across the vast garden.

Finishing Touches

To complete the transformation, the project featured:

• Professional Turf Installation: A vast new lawn including a fully automated irrigation system.
• Privacy & Security: High-quality slatted fencing to frame the perimeter.
• Ambient Lighting: A comprehensive lighting scheme to ensure the garden remains a usable space long after sunset.
