The Hawarden Project: A Multi-Level Garden Transformation
At Foulkes Paving, we pride ourselves on collaborating with homeowners to bring long-held visions to life. This project in Hawarden was a complete garden redesign, turning a challenging sloped plot into a sophisticated, multi-functional outdoor space.
The Brief: A Sanctuary for Busy Professionals
The clients, a busy professional couple who work from home, wanted a garden that balanced their love for the outdoors with a need for a low-maintenance, high-end finish. They had spent two years refining their ideas before approaching us.
Through a series of consultations and site visits, Luke worked closely with the couple to finalise a bespoke layout. The preparation was intensive; we removed old concrete paths, outdated planters and a significant portion of the existing bank—excavating approximately 80 tonnes of earth to create a level, usable footprint.
The Result: High-End Materials & Execution
The finished garden is a masterclass in texture and precision, combining contemporary porcelain with natural stone and resin.
Custom Porcelain Artistry
For the raised patio areas, we installed Harewood Oak porcelain tiles, which provide the warmth of timber with the durability of stone. To achieve the striking circular feature outside the garden room, our team custom-cut curved tiles on-site, ensuring a flawless, bespoke finish that standard off-the-shelf products cannot match.
Structural Elegance
We constructed a new retaining wall at the base of the garden, which was then clad in black slate and finished with porcelain coping stones for a sharp, modern look. The design also featured curved brickwork raised beds and a UV-stable resin bound stone pathway in a stylish 'Platinum' finish.
